My five favourite London-based Twitter feeds…
@SkintLondon Away with you, recession! The Skint team are using their inside knowledge to recommend incredible bargains to Londoners on a daily basis. SkintLondon’s recommendations have pretty much saved my bank balance in this God-Forsaken city. It’s only when someone is telling you about all the discounts available that you realise just how inexpensive London living can be…
@TownFish_London Tweet them a London-based request and they’ll retweet it to their followers. For example: “Does anyone know of a Retailer stocking fresh cold-water Persian fish in pastel colours only? Oh, in South West London…” and sure enough, someone out there will have an answer. More popular requests tend to be pubs, clubs or shops. But still.
@Tube_Boob Pretty much the best thing about London Underground these days is THIS VERY Twitter account. So much so, it features in my ‘The do’s and don’t’s of the London Underground’ write-up. It’s basically hilarious observations, stories and mishaps which REALLY HAPPEN on the tube network. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face and make taking the tube more entertaining.
@Spoonfed A fantastic daily feed offering suggestions of the best shin-digs in London. It suggests stuff you’d never think about doing until it’s spoonfed to you. Ahh, I see what they’ve done there. The penny’s just dropped.
@HailoLondon Hailo is an incredible company which stands for a fantastic purpose: safe cabs. As a lady in London, their app has become invaluable to me. Getting a cab on my own is now not only easy to book, it’s guaranteed not to be driven by Peter Sutcliffe. Cabs arrive very quickly and the app keeps you updated on how long it will take and who your driver will be. Plus, pay by card over the phone, so you won’t need to drive past a cash point. Their twitter feed is nice too.
Do you have any London-based Twitter accounts you’d recommend? Leave a comment below, I’d love your input too!
